Here we went an put many people in new cars who either couldn’t afford a new car, or ones who where going to buy a new one next year anyway. Not to mention we just trashed 650,000 cars that would have been wholesaled to private mom and pop dealers, who employ mechanics and bodymen. That’s about 400,000 cars that didn’t provide jobs being fixed up and taxed when they were resold.
Then instead of the government receiving revenue from the sales of the vehicle that would have been bought some time this year anyway, the government made your kids go in the hole a little bit further.
Now you’ve got Mom and Pop Dealers going out of business, mechanics who usually fix up clunkers are loosing there jobs, bodyshops and painters are loosing work too and even more people standing in the unemployment line.
Then to top it all off, the auto dealers and their manufactures are wondering where they are going to find more fools this year to buy the junk they are selling.
